FAQ

Questions before you book.

Straight answers about the free consult, what a visit includes, and what this practice will not sell. If your question is about your operation, email it. That is the consult.

Booking

How do I book a free consult?

Email rmf@coalesceops.com with the subject “Free consult,” or call 801.319.1061. There is no form and no account to create. Robert Foster reads the note and answers the phone. Say where the work is done, what recently changed, and which promise is slipping because ownership is unclear.

What happens on the free consult?

You describe the rough flow. The reply is a defined next step: a scoped assessment, or a clear reason the work is not a fit. You are not booked into a visit in order to discover that it is not a fit. The consult itself has no fee.

Scope and price

What does an assessment include?

A written scope before the visit is scheduled, then a look at how one real piece of work moves through the identity, network, platforms, access, and records you already run. You receive what is already sound, what is split, and the sequence in which to join it. The assessment can start from security and compliance, from infrastructure, or from the software bill. It is one picture, not three projects.

What does an alignment engagement include?

The work after an assessment, when you want the seams closed. Named owners, a cadence the week can actually run, and records that match the controls in use, including SOC 2 or PCI evidence when that is the pressure. It ends when your team can run the next week without a consultant in the meeting. Procedures, owners, and the record stay with you.

Do you publish a price?

No. The free consult has no fee. An assessment and an alignment engagement are scoped in writing before they are scheduled, and the fee is part of that scope. This site does not list a rate, a package price, because the work depends on the operation in front of us.

What this is not

Do you sell a 24-hour incident retainer?

No. Incident response readiness here is a week your team can already run: who is called, who can change access, and where the record of that decision lives. It is not a retainer that answers the phone at 2 a.m.

Will you place a fractional DevOps or SRE hire?

No. When platform work has no owner, a hire is the wrong first fix. The practice names the owner you already have, or shows that the work is not a job yet. A fractional engineer, if you still want one, comes after that picture exists.

What is in scope?

IT strategy and governance. Security and compliance, including SOC 2 and PCI. SaaS and what it costs. Identity and access. Automation of onboarding, offboarding, and the evidence. AI only on steps people already do. One account for the executives who own the operation.

The record

Who keeps the record when the work is done?

You do. Owners, cadence, access reviews, and the evidence stay with the company. The engagement is finished when the people you already have can run the next week. We do not leave behind a system that needs us in the meeting to operate.

What do you do with the email I send?

It is used to reply about the work. It is not sold, it is not added to a marketing list, and it is not turned into a public testimonial, a logo, or a client count. This site does not publish client names.
